Comic Cavalcade   (1942)
Search for 'Comic Cavalcade' on eBay

Publisher: DC Comics

Publication Date: Winter 1942 - Jun/Jul 1954

Country: United States

Language: English

Notes:
An odd little run that, when viewed as a whole, shows the dividing line between the Golden Age and the Dark Age. While the series is always an anthology that doesn't take itself too seriously, the first 29 issues contain stories, a few of them "significant", which involve Wonder Woman (I), Green Lantern (I) and the Flash (I). Indeed, they appear on the cover continuously for these initial issues, albeit in what might best be described as "juvenile" situations.

At issue 30, the cartoon characters that had previously been relegated to the back pages, took over the cover, and all super hero stories ended.

In terms of format, it was an unusually expensive book for its day, coming it at 15 an issue. Of course, it was also a 76-80-page book.
