Star Trek: Untold Voyages   (1998)
Search for 'Star Trek: Untold Voyages' on eBay

Publisher: Paramount Comics (Marvel)

Publication Date: March 1998 - July 1998

Country: United States

Language: English

Notes:
A quickly cancelled series that focused on a very narrow part of the Star Trek timeline.

The basic idea is that McCoy's line in Star Trek II--"Get back your command, Jim. Get it back before your really do grow old"--refers to a much more recent command than the general observer of Star Trek would think. Commonly understood to refer to the original five year mission, this series suggests that there was a second five year mission following Star Trek I in which Kirk commanded the NCC-1701 (refit) as Admiral. While possible, it's not particularly plausible, and it lessens the dramatic impact of Kirk's journey throughout the first four films. Most fans reject this series, if they even know it exists, as an acceptable prequel to Star Trek II.
