TV Comic Holiday Special   (1963)

Publisher: TV Publications, Ltd.

Publication Date: Holiday 1963 - Holiday 1984

Country: United States

Language: English

This was a companion publication to TV Comic (1951). Distinct from an annual, or from what Americans would think of as a "holiday" special, it was a summer vacation-themed issue that usually contained a good deal more color pages than the weekly comic. Thus, the use of the term "holiday", here, means "school holiday" or "summer vacation". Most issues were published in June of the year described, although the 1964 edition was published in May.
LIke the parent publication, this series contained a hodge-podge of comic strips. Unfortunately, most sources of information about this series are interested in only one of these strips. Thus, information about the Doctor Who strips is generally fairly available, but it's wickedly difficult to find out anything about the various funny animal strips which also appeared.
This book should not be confused with the TV Comic Doctor Who Holiday Special, which was devoted almost exclusively to Doctor Who content.
While the end date of this publication is definitively established, the beginning is merely the earliest example we've found. The earliest possible begin date for this series is 1951
