Bio:
The Secret Six returned to the DCU, after about a 15-year gap, in the Countdown to Infinite Crisis series, Villains United. Like its predecessors, this new Secret Six was comprised of people a mysterious figure named only "Mockingbird" had managed to coerce into service. Unlike its two predecessors, though, links to the US Government, espionage, and "The Agency" were not obvious. But the conclusion to Villains United implied at least the possibility that this team may not have been as different from its predecessors as it first appeared. True, the members were more obviously villains than either of the two teams that preceded them, but the revelation of Mockingbird's identity at least allowed for the possibility of some kind of government linkage. Also, while the membership consisted of costumed criminals--quite opposed to the form of the other two groups--the final disposition of this group was that of a bunch of anti-heroes, more than outright villains. Indeed it is notable that at the conclusion of Villains United former Secret Six members meet with Green Arrow to warn of a coming storm--something a true villain would have been unlikely to have done. The brief existence of the Secret Six (III) was characterized mostly by their opposition to the Secret Society of Super Villains (III). Why, exactly, they disliked Luthor's group so intently was one of the chief revelations of Villains United, and a key plot point in Infinite Crisis and 52. There are more than six members in the following list because some died or left the group and new members have joined to fill the team. The team now work as hired guns working for the highest bidder.
