Clan McDuck Search for 'Clan McDuck' on eBay Bio: In Disney comic books--and largely through the efforts of Carl Banks and Don Rosa--the family of Donald Duck became a much more richly detailed entity than many North Americans might suspect. In the rest of the world, where the adventures of Donald and his Uncle Scrooge are more popular than the exploits of Superman and Spider-Man, the Clan is a well-established feature. Part of the "fun" of Duck comics is, indeed, figuring out the McDuck family tree. Briefly, the Clan McDuck can trace its origins back to the 1st Century BC and Pah-Peh-Rheo, an Egyptian who had become a Roman citizen. While on duty with the Roman Army in Britain, he settled in Caledonia and thus started a brood that would eventually include the likes of Sir Roast McDuck, Sir Swamphole McDuck, Angus McDuck, Hortense McDuck, Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and, of course, Huey, Dewey and Louie--just to name a few of the dozens of McDucks appearing in comic books. |
