| Armageddon 2001 Search for 'Armageddon 2001' on eBay Notes: In an alternate future, Matthew Ryder is transformed into the time traveling hero Waverider in order to stop the evil dictator Monarch. He goes back in time to 1991 to discover who will become Monarch. It is also interesting to note that while the villain Monarch is revealed to be Hank Hall, or Hawk from the Hawk and Dove pair, it was originally set to be Captain Atom. After this news was leaked, DC changed the story part way through, and ultimately dulled the overall impact the story might have had. Monarch later became Extant. This series crossed through all the DC annuals of 1991, where Waverider visited each hero and looked into their futures. Great alternate possibility stories, including one with Superman becoming President, and willing a Green Lantern ring off Guy Gardner's hand and then reforming on his own hand(great comic moment).
