20 Pages - Not Enough - MartyPrime
Amethyst … err … Sword of Sorcery issue 2 … was an interesting book. I don’t even bother reading the colossally disappointing Beowulf back up anymore so what I’m left with is a 20 page Amethyst comic that I’m paying $3.99 an issue for – and frankly this issue wasn’t worth it. This chapter is clearly designed as world building … but where the first few pages succeeded in that greatly … once the character began discussing the finer point of the political struggles of this new world … that I can’t even recall the name of – the story grinds to a halt. In many ways it resembles the senate scenes from Star Wars Episode I only those seemed to have a point beyond giving you back-story. I think that was my main problem with this issue it was all political back-story and very little story.

There is nothing really technically wrong with the book … but at 3.99 and only 20 pages I would expect to get more packed in here. However the art by Aaron Loprsti was incredible - the two page splash on pages 2 & 3 was gorgeous … but I don’t know if that’s enough to keep me coming back.
