Notes:
In just a few short years, Dabel Brothers Productions ("DB Pro") has grown from a small company founded by four creative brothers into a well-known comic book studio that has brought some of the most popular fantasy novels into the visual medium through well-produced comic books and graphic novels.

Initially launched as Roaring Studios in 2002 by Ernst, Les, Pascal, and David Dabel, the company began as a developer studio publishing through Image Comics with a small lineup of original titles.

But the Dabel Brothers had a bigger vision for their company - they wanted to produce a comic book adaptation of New York Times Bestselling author George R. R. Martin's epic fantasy series, "A Song of Ice and Fire." Though Mr. Martin was intrigued by the prospect and impressed by the brothers' passion for his books, he suggested that they first adapt a recently written novella that served as a prequel to his novel series. The brothers began work on assembling their creative team, and production began on their first major title, The Hedge Knight (2003). It was a massive success both in terms of sales and critical response, even earning the top spot in the graphic novel section of Amazon.com for 2004.

Thrilled with their success, the Dabel Brothers began speaking to several other major fantasy and science fiction authors about licensing other popular works. They began immediate work on Richard A. Knaak's Dragonlance: The Legend of Huma (2004) and followed up with Raymond E. Feist's The Wood Boy (2005), Robert Silverberg's The Seventh Shrine (2005), Tad Williams's The Burning Man (2005), and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time: New Spring (2005).

(Adding to this impressive pedigree, many of these titles featured covers from legendary sci-fi and fantasy artists such as Michael Kaluta, Boris Valejo, Tom Mandrake, Julie Bell, Ted Nasmith and the Hildebrant Bros.)

The brothers also complemented their fantasy lineup with a strong selection of studio titles, including the original Legacy (2003) and Imperial Dragons (2004), as well as the English adaptation of the classic European conspiracy story, XIII (2005).

And for 2006, DB PRO has even more plans, including adaptations of Orson Scott Card's Red Prophet and Wyrms, Monte Cook's Ptolus: City by the Spire, Raymond E. Feist's Magician, George R. R. Martin's The Hedge Knight II: Sworn Sword, R.A. Salvatore's The Highwayman, and Robert Silverberg's Lord Valentine's Castle. The Dabel Brothers will also be producing the original stories Age of Darkness (a fantasy war epic), Marshal (a sci-fi western) and Minus World (an adventure centered around video games) as well as many others.

What sets DB Pro apart? A key strength is something very few companies can attest to - it is, afer all, a family. And within that family, the four Dabel Brothers themselves (as well as their dedicated staff) share a philosophy of paying attention to quality, listening to the ideas and concerns of their authors, and knowing what fans are after. After all, fans are why the Dabel Brothers are in this business - and as anyone who posts in the DB Pro forums knows, Les, Ernst, David and Pascal are very interested to hear from readers to learn how they can make their line of books even stronger.
