First appeared in the magazine 2000 AD
After being published in 2000 AD Progs #376-385 (July 7-September 8, 1984); #406-415 (February 23-April 27, 1985) and #451-466 (January 4-April 19, 1986) it was then published in 3 individual volumes as The Ballad of Halo Jones Books 1-3 from August to October 1986
Collected into a single volumes as The Complete Ballad of Halo Jones in September 1991 and reprinted as such in July 2001 with an introduction by Ian Gibson dated April 2001.
The Ballad of Halo Jones first saw print in the US as a 12 issue series from Quality Comics titled simply Halo Jones. Published from September '87 to August '88, the series was colorized for the first time with new covers and supplemented with some of Gibson's other work from 2000 AD. Qualty Comics vertically streched the artwork to fit the format of American comics, resulting in distorted artwork.
