Synopsis
|
With the Avengers disbanded and the Fantastic Four & the X-Men preoccupied, a mysterious figure hires Electro to perform a job. A big one.
Matt Murdock, Luke Cage and Foggy Nelson meet with Jessica Drew on the Raft, the Maximum-Maximum Security Installation of Riker’s Island. The quartet is ushered through the Raft to see Murdock’s client. The Raft holds the worst of the worst, eight levels of super-powered serial killing maniacs, including the Purple Man, who Luke Cage holds a personal grudge with. Getting inside an elevator, they travel eight levels underwater to the bottom level when all the generators power down.
Not restricted to the Raft, the entire city of New York is plunged into darkness. Civilians have a moment to ponder this power outage when a lightning bolt tears into the Raft.
Peter Parker saw the power outage as a blessing as it got him out of watching a Hugh Grant movie with his wife. A blessing, until he saw the bolt of lightning come down on the Raft. So exit Peter Parker and enter the Amazing Spider-Man, piggy-backing a ride to the island on the underside of a SHIELD helicarrier, one that gets hit by a stray lightning blast causing it and our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to plummet to the river. Spider-Man swims through the freezing water and is greeted on the Raft by the helicarrier’s official passenger, Captain America.
Meanwhile, inside the Raft, Electro materializes out of a piece of ball lightning, collects the person he was freeing, and to cover their escape, frees the remainder of the prisoners.
As explosions rock the Raft, Murdock makes Jessica Drew take them to his client. Opening his cell, Murdock pleads to the disheveled hermit for help. When asked, Murdock reveals that the man is the Sentry, the most powerful metahuman on the planet, serving a voluntary sentence for killing his wife.

Matt Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Luke Cage come to "the Raft," a high security prison designed to hold supervillains. This happens to be the same day that Electro is hired by persons unknown to break all of the supervillains out of said prison. Electro manages to do so, leaving the island covered with escaped supervillains, none of whom will be friendly to Matt, Foggy, Luke, Jessica Drew (a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent), Sentry (a hero imprisoned for killing his wife), Spider-Man or Captain America (both of whom showed up when they saw the explosion Electro caused.)

Synopsis
|
It was the worst day in Avengers history. The Scarlet Witch suffered a total nervous breakdown after losing control of her reality-altering powers. In the chaos created around the breakdown, beloved Avengers Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Vision lost their lives. Many of the other Avengers were hurt, both emotionally and physically. Without funding to keep going, the rest of the team quietly disbanded.
That was six months ago...
