2014-02-05 20:21:18 spid Synopsis Created out of the Swamp by a freak accident, Swamp Thing is an elemental creature who uses the forces of nature and wisdom of the plant kingdom to fight the polluted world’s self-destruction. Inspired by the creation of writer Len Wein and artist Berni Wrightson, Alan Moore took the Swamp Thing to new heights in the 1980s with his unique narrative approach. His provocative and groundbreaking writing, combined with masterly artwork by some of the medium’s top artists, made SWAMP THING one of the great comics of the late twentieth century. This volume includes Moore’s first seven issues, SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #21-27.
2014-02-05 20:21:18 spid Notes The first twenty issues of Saga of the Swamp Thing have never been reprinted or collected. The series, the second Swamp Thing comic series, began in 1982. It was first written by Martin Pasko (#s 1-13 & 16-19) with Dan Mishkin (14-15) and illustrated by Tom Yeates (1-8, 10-13), Jan Duursema (9) and Bo Hampton (14-15). Stephen Bissette & Jon Totleben began drawing the series with issue #16. Despite what the publisher’s above blurb says, Alan Moore’s first issue was actually Saga of the Swamp Thing #20, which primarily dealt with clearing away the supporting cast used by the previous writer and setting the stage for his own run. Foreword by Ramsey Campbell. Introduction by Alan Moore. All reprints no new materials.
