Synopsis:
Dr. Mary Young, eager to be of help to society, searches for the perfect psychotic to test her experimental Neurotech machine on. On a visit to Clearview Mental Institute discovers Ernie Fairchild, who killed his parents one morning over breakfast, then proceeded down the block, killing 35. As police captured him, 12 more died at his hands.

Dr. Leonard Price, director of the facility, recounts why he blames himself for Ernie's killing spree. Ernie's parents brought young Ernie to see Dr. Price seeking a "cure" for his depression and social withdrawal--and neglected to mention their abuse of the boy or his paranormal ability.

Dr. Price's experimental Dream Probe took Ernie to the Eternal Graveyard where the entity Lady Death encouraged him to kill -- a demonstration Ernie took to heart, becoming "Evil" Ernie.

After witnessing a near escape where several guards are killed by Ernie, Dr. Young's decision to test her machine on Ernie solidifies.
