Synopsis: Adam Strange, disheveled and frustrated by his inability to see his wife and daughter on Rann, has been taken in by the Gotham police investigating a mysterious explosion that occurred at Strange's home. He describes his origins to the detective and how he went from the champion of Rann to a shiftless bum.
The zeta beam that meant to take him home again never returned. He called on the aid of Superman to check on it, who breaks the bad news to him; Rann's primary star supernovaed, destroying the entire planetary system. The detectives don't believe him, however. After they leave the room, he frees himself from the handcuffs and knock them out before running into an alien bathed in zeta radiation who tells him that the supernova was faked. Strange steals the creature's jetpack and zooms off, only to be confronted with another enemy.
Synopsis: Adam Strange, free from the Gotham Police, has been thrust into the even less appealing hands of a couple of bounty hunters, eager to beat information about Rann out of him. With multiple warheads chasing him, Strange dodges and maneuvers until he destroys the second bounty hunter's armor with her own missile.
After the battle, Strange returns to his destroyed apartment and suits up in his Rannian battle gear. He activates the zeta transporter only to find himself in severe heat. He attempts to fly through it but before he can get past it, his systems shut down.
Synopsis: Adam Strange's systems are failing, the heat of the system is making him hallucinate and all hope seems lost... Until a Thanagarian ship arrives and stumbles upon him. They bring him aboard for questioning. They cure him of radiation poisoning and heat exposure and return his gear after installing a tracking device.
While looking through the Thanagarian computers, Strange realizes that the star systems have been switched. The captain of the ship attempts to reason with Thanagar to spare a ship in hopes of finding something in the other system Strange pointed out, but instead they want to execute him. He makes a valiant attempt to escape, but it stopped and brought in for a trial where he's pinned with the destruction of the Rann star system. They quickly find him guilty and prep him for execution.
Synopsis: Adam Strange is marked for death in a Thangarian court. Moments before being decapitated, he's suddenly teleported out by the commander of the ship that found him. She returns his flight suit and demands that he exact vengeance on the people responsible for the supposed destruction of Rann.
After Zeta Beaming to the place where he supposes the Red Giant first existed, Adam finds a stellar research station, inside of which dwell the Omega Men. They take him in and explain their situation. A precog has been having visions about the world-ending "Omega Event" and they think Adam Strange has something to do with it. Also on the ship is some kind of massive structure within a containment field. Strange manages to break into it using his Rann security clearance, but before Doc can come to analyze it, the creature they call Seer has become feral and has Doc in his sights.
Synopsis: The Omega Men and Adam Strange find out that the mysterious structure from within the containment field is something that fires an Omega Beam, or a modified Zeta Beam meant to move large masses between galaxies and more. Ultimately it could be used as the most powerful weapon in the universe.
Unfortunately for the Omega Men, the Spider Guild have found them. In order to stop the Guild from getting the weapon, Tigorr has set the reactor core to self-destruct and the Omega Men escape on their ship (including an impostor Doc). Finally, Strange discovers the destination of Rann from Artin. The two escape narrowly from the explosion and they all head for Maltus. Unfortunately, the Thanagarians have gotten to L.E.G.I.O.N. first and the group of freedom fighters are marked as criminals. However, they make a lucky break when Adam Strange tears open a hoverpod soaked in zeta radiation, occupied by Sardath, his father-in-law!
Synopsis: L.E.G.I.O.N. is on the search for Adam Strange and the Omega Men, wanted criminals on Maltus. However, the supposed criminals are lying low now that they've found Sardath among the Maltus citizens. Or at least, that's what they thought. This Sardath is a clone who claims that hiding Rann was entirely the real Sardath's idea. The clone hands over the coordinates for Rann's new location, but just when they're about to leave for the new destination, the impostor Doc betrays them and reveals himself as a Durlan spy. Strange manages to zeta beam the creature into the last place he beamed to: the Rann Supernova.
They all return to the Omega Ship, but are ambushed by L.E.G.I.O.N. soldiers. The Omega Men and Adam Strange are all arrested due to Thanagar putting out an intergalactic warrant on them.
Meanwhile back on Thanagar, the commander of the ship that initially saved Strange prepares to follow them to Rann in order to please her master.
Strange manages to get out of the tight space by forcing Vril Dox to hesitate. He and Tigorr escape via zeta beam, but Dox tags along. When it seems like Dox has the upper hand, he's suddenly shot by Alanna, Adam Strange's wife!
Synopsis: Finally, Adam Strange has been reunited with his family on Rann. He also finally gets an explanation as to why Rann has been replaced with a supernovaed star. They feared the Omega Event, the coming of Starbreaker (the master of Sh'ri Valkyr from the previous several issues) and his desires to absorb the energy available to him by the zeta and omega beams. In order to prevent his ascension, Sardath hid Rann and destroyed the Omega Beam. Together, they discover that it was Valkyr who was behind the problems that Adam has been facing. They also realize that she's been tracking him this entire time. The Starbreaker is let loose on the suns of Rann and Vril Dox escapes back to L.E.G.I.O.N. headquarters.
With the Starbreaker gaining more and more power, the Omega Men and Rann's forces band together to stop him. But when everything is unprotected, Valkyr appears within the inner chambers of Rann.
Synopsis: The Starbreaker has absorbed the energy for Rann's three sons and has now set his sights on Rann itself. Meanwhile, Adam Strange and Rann's defenses work to battle Thanagarian warships. But, when all seems lost, a L.E.G.I.O.N. assault fleet and the rest of the Omega Men arrive to help fight the Thanagarian death cult. Combined with the power of the Darkstars, they take the battle to the Starbreaker. As the new reinforcements attempt to create a diversion, Adam Strange destroys the Thanagarian warship single-handedly. Once he realizes that the warship was a diversion itself, he rockets back to Sardath and Alanna to save them from Valkyr. After taking down her guards, Alanna delivers the killing blow after Valkyr turns her back to her.
Meanwhile, the Darkstars are defeated and Rann retreats... But not back to their planet, they send the planet to an entirely new galaxy! Unfortunately for them, they're in Thanagar's system. Even worse, a grenade destroys the Omega Beam, trapping them there. And yet even worse, Thanagar's gravitational balance has been tipped, throwing Thanagar towards its own sun!
