Though basically a fact-based publication, this issue has two important contributions to the world of fiction. First, it features the first appearance of long-running Action Comics backup star, Tommy Tomorrow. Second, it contains the first writing ever published by Harlan Ellison.

Finlay and Sherman may well have contributed pnecil and ink work to one or more of the inset cover pictures, but this fact is unconfirmed.
