As Jason undergoes studies on his Firestorm persona at STAR Labs, the facility is attacked by the new villain calling himself the Pionic Man. The Pionic Man, having more scientific knowledge than Jason, is easily able to defeat him. Jason, humbled and defeated, crawls his way back home to his apartment where his neighbor, Dr. Otaki, makes a startling discovery.
