Synopsis:
A case of mistaken identity leads to a deadly game of Russian Roulette between Batman and the Tally Man. The Tally Man believes Dick to be Jean-Paul Valley, who defeated and tortured the tally man. In a case of bitter irony, the beating at the hands of Jean-Paul was due to the Tally Man believing him to be Bruce wayne. Using his training to bide his time, Dick eventually frees himself from his restraints and does not use the same methods as Jean-Paul in bringing the Tally Man to justice.

In a series of confrontations, Tim confronts Steeljacket, the new vigilante in Gotham, while Dick confronts a newly-returned Bruce Wayne. As Tim fights a losing battle, Dick lets loose years of pent-up aggression on his mentor. Feeling hurt for being passed over when the mantle was given to Jean-Paul, Bruce reveals that he did not choose Dick out of concern for his welfare, as Dick was going through a tough time. The two patch up, as Tim takes down Steeljacket. Tim returns to the Batcave to find Dick in his Nightwing costume, and Bruce back in the mantle of Batman, promising changes to come.
