Notes: This milestone story, published about a decade after the introduction of the Golden Age Superman, posited an interesting notion. It was the first time that the character of Superman himself learned of his own origin story. This was thus the first time that Superman came to understand that he was not from Earth but instead from the distant planet of Krypton. Thus the Superman of Earth 2 did not discover the ship that carried him to Earth in the Kent family barn, as has been chronicled in Smallville and each origin story from the Silver Age onward. Instead, he wore the Superman costume for several years before having an experience which revealed his origins to him.
