When a strange energy singularity appears over Metropolis, Superman and the rest of the Justice League gather to investigate. Initially, the JLA attempt to probe the singularity with little success, before the singularity itself begins to probe the city. Forming itself into a human body, the JLA are started to learn that this mysterious being, dubbed "The Weird", has power to rival Superman! Unfortunately, that power is also contained in an unstable body. Escaping from the JLA, the Weird sets out to accomplish an unknown mission, but his first stop is to visit the family of the man his body is patterned after!
