In imagining what would happen had Jor-El destined his child to land in Britain instead of America, authors Johnson and Cleese have an opportunity to vent on the annoyances of modern British life.

Colin Clark (our Elseworlds Superman), muddles through a conflicted existence working for a London tabloid that's just as happy to build up Superman as to tear him down, depending on the editor's need to increase circulation. Meanwhile, his thoroughly middle-class parents keep moving around the country without telling him where they're going, as they're embarrassed by their son's "unseemly" displays of superheroism.

Colin's obsession with fellow journalist Louisa Layne-Ferrett seems oddly familiar, until her American cousin, Lois Lane, arrives to take Colin to a new, better life in America. There, now fully divorced from his former life in Britain, he adopts the traditional Superman suit with which the "regular" DCU is familiar, and drops his first name in favor of his mother's home, Kent. Thus, his American secret identity is "Kent Clark".
