Synopsis: Following Bruce’s forced return to the mantle of Batman, he realizes he is still not fully healed and must take care of some unfinished business. Hoping to choose a better successor than previously, Bruce asks Dick Grayson to temporarily fill in for him as Batman. Dick immediately has his hands full with the return of Killer Croc, who is seeking revenge against both the mafia and Bane. Showing concern for his enemy, Dick prevents Killer Croc’s death at the hands of the mafia, but Dick begins to question his ability to fill the mantle of Batman.
Synopsis: Across Gotham, drug users are suddenly dying due to a corrupted shipment of heroin. Behind the bad heroin is the Ventriloquist and Scarface, who are attempting to regain their territory. Tim and Dick stake out the deadly duo, only to find a set-up and a mob hit between rival gangs. Finally able to track the Ventriloquist down, he is captured as Scarface is allowed to go free. Meanwhile, Harvey Dent is mistakenly released from prison due to confusion between identities of two inmates. With his new-found freedom, Harvey Dent decides to bring anarchy to Gotham City!
Synopsis: Batman and Robin learn of Harvey Dent’s accidental release from prison, as well as the escape of the Ratcatcher. Feeling Harvey has not had enough time to hatch a scheme, Batman chooses to focus all of his attention on the Ratcatcher, trying to stay one step ahead of him. Robin has a near-fatal mistake, which brings back bad memories for Dick regarding a mistake he made during his time as Robin which led to the death of a man. Batman eventually tracks down the Ratcatcher and stops his scheme as Harvey Dent begins to put his plans into motion. Meanwhile, Robin’s father, Jack Drake, attempts to spend more quality time with his son.
Synopsis: Two-Face makes the first strike in his attempt in his grand scheme by killing a gathering of lawyers. His scheme is revealed to be an attempt to clog Gotham’s legal system, which will leave the rest of the city open and unprepared for further strikes. Batman and Robin are made aware of Two-Face’s actions and prepare to confront him, which causes Dick to become self-conscious, hoping not to repeat the mistakes of his past. Meanwhile, Tim attempts to pick up the pieces of his life which has been falling apart lately by going to talk to his estranged girlfriend.
Synopsis: Two-Face’s plan is put into effect further when he hacks Gotham’s records department and passes his judgment on those in the legal system. Those without trials are sentenced, sentenced criminals are let free, chaos ensues. Gotham’s legal system, still not fully recovered from Bane’s assault on Arkham Asylum, is hopelessly bogged down. Dick retells the tale of his greatest failure to Tim, as Dick once again doubts his ability to take down Two-Face. Batman and Robin must face down a group of escaped convicts who have taken a movie theater hostage.
Synopsis: As the number of inmates rises at Blackgate Prison, so do the tensions and tempers within the walls.
As news spreads that convicts will be tripled up, a riot breaks out. Dick comes to the rescue and
takes out the leader of the riot, thus dispersing the prisoners and helping to ease tensions. But the
tensions between convicts and the guards are not the only tensions, tensions between Batman and
Commissioner Gordon rise, as Gordon doesn’t believe he can trust Batman and takes out his tension
on those around him. In the meantime, a mysterious group known as “Troika” approaches Waynetech
with a threat thinly disguised as an offer, an offer which Lucious Fox must refuse.
Synopsis: Two-Face intends to carry out the final phase of his master plan, destroying Gotham City’s Hall of Records! While Batman works alone in hunting down Two-Face, Robin seeks help from an outside source. Robin is eventually captured by Two-Face, who uses him as bait for a reluctant Batman. Can Batman overcome his fear and self-doubt for long enough stop Two-Face, and if he does, can he come to terms with the fact that his tenure as Batman is limited?
Synopsis: Having stopped Two-Face’s plan, Batman and Robin attempt to lead normal lives once again, as tensions across Gotham are finally decreasing. Unfortunately for Tim, tensions in his personal life are on the rise following an attack on him in the presence of his girlfriend. Frustrated, Tim looks to release some aggression while patrolling as Robin. Following his patrol, Tim does not feel any less aggravated, until he stumbles across the same bullies who attacked him earlier in the presence of his girlfriend. His girlfriend has troubles of her own, however, as her family comes under pressure by the Troika group, who are revealed to be in league with the KGBeast!
Synopsis: In the wake of Two-Face’s capture, Batman and Robin must work to clean up the mess made of the Gotham legal system. The first step is to recapture three of the worst escaped convicts from Blackgate Prison. All three of these criminals are found in Gotham’s notorious “War Zone” section of town. Taking each of the criminals down on his own, Dick begins to feel overwhelmed by the mantle of Batman, knowing that he does not have what it takes to be the one-man war on crime that his mentor is.
Synopsis: A case of mistaken identity leads to a deadly game of Russian Roulette between Batman and the Tally Man. The Tally Man believes Dick to be Jean-Paul Valley, who defeated and tortured the tally man. In a case of bitter irony, the beating at the hands of Jean-Paul was due to the Tally Man believing him to be Bruce Wayne. Using his training to bide his time, Dick eventually frees himself from his restraints and does not use the same methods as Jean-Paul in bringing the Tally Man to justice.
Synopsis: A new vigilante stalks the streets of Gotham wearing a suit of armor with claws and wings. Immediately, Dick and Tim have different theories as to the identity of this vigilante. Dick believes him to be Jean-Paul Valley, having returned to his vigilante ways. Tim, on the other hand, believes this vigilante to be a new player in Gotham. Each follow their leads separately, with Dick tracking Jean-Paul down to a homeless shelter, realizing he cannot be the vigilante. Tim, on the other hand, comes face to face with a new power-player in Gotham. Meanwhile, Dick returns to the Batcave to find an unexpected guest… Bruce Wayne!
Synopsis: In a series of confrontations, Tim confronts Steeljacket, the new vigilante in Gotham, while Dick confronts a newly-returned Bruce Wayne. As Tim fights a losing battle, Dick lets loose years of pent-up aggression on his mentor. Feeling hurt for being passed over when the mantle was given to Jean-Paul, Bruce reveals that he did not choose Dick out of concern for his welfare, as Dick was going through a tough time. The two patch up, as Tim takes down Steeljacket. Tim returns to the Batcave to find Dick in his Nightwing costume, and Bruce back in the mantle of Batman, promising changes to come.
