Inside Grundy's mind Jack, Batman, Woodrue and Sentinel meet up with Cyrus Gold, Grundy's human "root." Alan recounts his history with Grundy. Gold shows the group to the good Grundy, however, he decides not to let them get to him easilly. The mass amounts of Grundys attack and quickly overwhelm them, until Ted finally takes a bite from the fruit when he sees that his son and friends are in trouble. A young Starman I saves them all, but Grundy tells them that he can't fight off Gold and the bad Grundys and can't come back.
