Notes: This was a reprint of a 1967 TV Comic strip. It appeared because the artistic team on "The Way of All Flesh" was running behind. They would enjoy a brief "reprint revival" over the next few months, providing a backup strip to the main McGann storyline. As of early 2007, this "John and Gillian" revival was the only time in Clayton Hickman's tenure that DWM had a backup strip—something virtually unseen in DWM since the 1970s.
Perhaps in deference to this 21st century reprint material, John and Gillian would appear again towards the end of the Eighth Doctor's run, in the first original material using them in 40 years. However, that story—issue #337's "The Land of Happy Endings"—would be something of a postmodern revision which essentially reduced John, Gillian and (by extension) the whole TV Comic run, to the status of a dream that the Eighth Doctor had one night.
