A prior story is told of the time a Cosmo VII robot from the Soviet Union attacks Vanguard in his space station, drawing him to Earth, creating tension between the USA and certain officials in the USSR.

The back-up story is a reprint of Erik Larsen's first work in comic books, from Megaton #1, in 1982 and does not take place in regular continuity.
