Synopsis:
The Seventh Doctor, ironically, is tired of the games gods play. He comes across a party of Eternals--seen as gods by more primitive species--and decides that he will teach them a lesson. Once again they've given atomic power to a lesser-developed species, and the anachronistic science has ripped a world apart. In punishment, he gives Prospero, the leader of this Eternal "gang", a bit of the Time Vortex a "gift". This little shard of the Time Vortex pushes the "gods" down from their Mount Olympus and makes them mortal. The games have ended--although the reader must wonder if the Doctor hasn't played god himself.

Notes:
It is unclear whether the Time Vortex at the heart of this story is quite the same thing as the Time Vortex that figured so prominently in the televised adventures of the Ninth Doctor.

This is the final appearance of the Seventh Doctor as the "current" Doctor. His next appearance would not be for more than two years, at which time it was already known that Paul McGann would be the Eighth Doctor.
