Synopsis:
In the days following the end of the Crisis, the citizens of Earth are reacting to it in their own ways. Ralph Dibny, the former Elongated Man chooses to sit in his demolished home contemplating suicide while former Gotham City Detective Renee Montoya desperately searches for answers at the bottom of a bottle. However, with the world still struggling to get on its feet, John Henry Irons, Steel, works around the clock to help however he can.

Meanwhile, Booster Gold, with the assistance of future knowledge given to him by his robotic companion Skeets, stops the super-villain Mammoth from completing a jewel heist, helping his rep as Metropolis’ new protector. Once finished, he begins to give off a bit of free advertising for one of his sponsors (even super-heroes need to pay the rent), when Skeets tells him to act more somber. “My history files show the city’s still in shock over Superboy.” Booster sheds a tear in front of some reporters, then takes to the sky.

Once in the sky, the tears vanish and Booster’s jubilation returns. Skeets has informed him that during Superboy’s funeral the next day, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman would announce the new Justice League, according to Skeets the greatest Justice League in the history of the League. Olsen would win the Howitzer (Pulitzer) for the shot of the three of them. The greatest League in history and they were going to ask him to join.

At the Ambassador Hotel, Ralph Dibny has given up. While listening to his messages, he sticks a gun into his mouth and is prepared to pull the trigger when he hears a person from the cemetery telling him that they found a message on his late wife’s tombstone.

Steel hunts down his niece Natasha Irons, also going by the codename Steel, and scolds her for wanting to spend time with the Teen Titans instead of helping clear rubble and debris from the city, saying that she wants something she hasn’t earned yet. Natasha starts to jump away saying that she earned her armor when John Henry uses a remote to cause her armor to lock up and dismantle itself. Steel flies away saying “There are people out there doing far more with far less. You want armor? Build it yourself. You can start work on it when you get home.”

In Khandaq, Black Adam apologizes to his people for his actions during the Crisis and vows to help spread the word of the Gods to the rest of the world as Khandaq’s ambassador. A member of the crowd reveals himself to be a suicide bomber with dynamite strapped to his chest. Before he can push the button, however, he finds himself being held by the throat in the middle of the sky by Black Adam, who has thrown the bomb high above the city and relieved the bomber of one of his arms. Black Adam just stares at the bomber and tells him to reveal the bomber’s employers.

In his hidden laboratory, Dr. Sivana watches the arrival of heroes at Superboy’s funeral. Suddenly, the doors are broken down by a duo of unidentified creatures that drag the mad scientist from his lab, leaving Mr. Mind trapped in his tube.

Booster Gold works his way into the crowd of heroes, preparing for the moment that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman arrive. Skeets counts down to the predestined moment and at zero, nothing happened. As the minutes pass by and Skeets begins to malfunction while reading files, Booster begins do go out of control, not willing to believe that they aren’t coming. J’onn J’onzz attempts to hold him down when Booster accidentally elbows someone in the face who claimed that they weren’t coming. When asked how he knew, Clark Kent, nursing a nosebleed, merely said “I just know. And I’m sorry.”

In Gotham City, a man with no face stands atop Police Headquarters. He peels away the bat emblem from the Bat-Signal and sprays a backward question mark on it before turning it on facing the apartment of Renee Montoya, still trying to drink her problems away. As she closes the curtains to block out the light, the Question just asks, “Are you ready?”
