Xavier travels to Quebec to ask Jean Paul Beaubier to join the staff and the school. Xavier’s sends the Stacy X, Northstar, Angel, Nightcrawler and Iceman on a mission to check on a newly emerging mutant. In an effort to protect others Jean Paul decides to transport the child himself, in turn exposing himself to the child’s destructive powers. On the journey the child dies in his arms strengthening his determination to help the next generation if he can.
