Swamp Thing has recently learned that he is not Alec Holland as he believed for so long. In fact, Alec Holland is dead. Swamp Thing is being haunted by Holland's ghost. He follows the ghost to significant places and relives memories of Holland's life and his own after he was created. He is able to do the one thing that will stop the ghost haunting him.
