The Doctor lands on Zebadee, a planet which is a magnet for intellectuals and mystics alike. There, the Doctor has his fortune told by Madam Rosa. She foretells that he will encounter deadly robots. Deciding that this possible future will subject John and Gillian to too much danger, he insists they remain on Zebadee to go to university.

Travelling alone in the TARDIS for the first time since his TV Comic career began, the Second Doctor materializes just outside a grand castle. Just as he's getting his bearings—speculating that he's in Scotland because of the smell of heather—a UFO lands almost on top of him. It opens to reveal the Quarks, validating the fortune he was told on Zebadee.

This marks John and Gillian's final regular appearance in Doctor Who comics. They would be seen again a handful of times in other venues, but for all intents and purposes, this is their swan song.

Though Gillian is never depicted in comics at a later moment in her life than this story, John's fate is given some cursory attention in Doctor Who Classic Comics #8.
