Synopsis: A young engineer, Alan Scott, is involved in a fatal train wreck. His life is spared by the Flame of Life, a green energy residing in a magic lamp. The lamp tells Alan it will bring him power over evil. Alan uses the power to catch the men who sabotaged the train. Then he fashions a costume for himself, adopting the identity of Green Lantern.
