Synopsis:
Nano is unique. Really unique. Per the cultural norms of his homeworld, he was created for a single purpose, and no other. He's meant to be the Lirin homeworld's representative to Starfleet. Once his die is cast he has no place anywhere else--even on his home planet.But when a crisis strikes the Lirin Unity, he is forced to return home to investigate. Oddly, his unique purpose makes it difficult for his own people to accept him back into their fold. The rest of the Enterprise crew, oddly, are more welcome than he on his own homeworld. And they're getting better results in their investigation of why key members of the Lirin Unity have died. Unfortunately, what they've discovered is a menace for which Lirin society may not have produced a member capable to handle it. It's thus up to the crew of the Enterprise, with the help of the ostracized Nano, to save Liria from their own lack of forward planning.
