Synopsis:
Angel comes eye to eye with Sauron, warping his perceptions so that he sees monsters. Shortly, he realizes the monsters are merely illusory, and dispels them by flying through them. Sauron starts to lead him on a chase when the other X-Men arrive, and Cyclops blasts Sauron. They battle, but Sauron shrugs off their efforts. However, he's running low on juice, and ducks out of sight with Angel following him. There he grabs Angel and hypnotizes him to carry him off - now reverted to his human form Dr. Lykos. Angel returns Lykos home (though he remembers nothing of this), where he finds Tanya waiting for him. Soon the X-Men (in civvies and missing Angel) arrive to check on Alex Summers, and are shortly followed by Doctor Anderssen, Tanya's father, who forbids Karl and Tanya to marry. The X-Men return to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and find Angel hypnotized with Lorna Dane taking care of him. He freaks at the mention of Lykos. Later, while Alex and Lorna are looking through Prof X's notebooks for information on Dr. Lykos, Lorna discovers that Lykos is a non-mutant variant. Before she can communicate this to anyone, Lykos ambushes her and absorbs her energy, turning back into Sauron, and then he goes to confront Tanya and Dr. Anderssen. Tanya recognizes Sauron as Lykos just before the X-Men show up to drive him off, and then realizing that his actions would be repulsive to Tanya, he flies off to Tierra Del Fuego. Tanya finds him there, and Karl, himself in great despair, hurls himself off a cliff...
