Synopsis: 434 years before John Carter's arrival on Mars (Barsoom), Dejah Thoris learns some shocking history of the planet, including a tale of a legendary sword. Dejah discovers not only the sword is real but also is possessed by a tribe of Green Martians and she retrieves it. After the sword's "curse" affects Dejah and her mentor, Dejah's new pet calot grabs the sword and buries it in the Martian wasteland.
Synopsis: Several years after his ascension as Warlord of Mars, John Carter and Dejah Thoris are on a pleasure trip when they are kidnapped and taken before Syl Mak (Dejah's associate from Part 1, who's identified only as "Professor" in that tale) who has recovered the lost sword and intends on conquering all of Barsoom, after he's executed Carter and Dejah. After being rescued, Carter and Dejah learn the truth behind the sword's legend.
