Telepathy War

Troi's illness is now seen as a kind of key to the mystery surrounding both the presence of the changeling aboard Enterprise and the Dominion attack on DS9. It also appears to exonerate Omega Squad, and propels Picard to question whether Admiral Pradesh was indeed a shape shifter, as the cadets had claimed.

Further investigation reveals that, indeed, there is a Dominion plot to rid the Alpha Quadrant of its telepaths. It is noted that maybe the attack on DS9 was just a diversion to draw a large portion of the Starfleet into the Gamma Quadrant so that a conference of telepaths might be ripe for Jem'Hadar picking.

Enterprise rushes back to defend the conference, while Bashir, Astrun and the Talosians counter a virus intended to infect the whole of the Alpha Quadrant's telepathic population.
