Story Arc(s): Add/remove story arcs to this issue
Carol Danvers’ day at the offices of Woman magazine has barely begun when she experiences a seventh-sense vision of herself as Ms. Marvel in the chamber of the Supreme Intelligence on the planet Kree-Lar. The Supremor reaches out and grabs Ms. Marvel, stating that the time has come for her to serve the Kree Empire. Only moments after waking from the trance, Carol is brutally assaulted by Ronan the Accuser, whose punch throws her out of her office, across the hall and into an elevator shaft. She flies outside as Ms. Marvel to confront Ronan, who states that he is to escort her to Kree-Lar on the orders of the Supreme Intelligence.
Ms. Marvel fights valiantly, but her power is no match for Ronan’s. Captain Marvel shows up to assist Ms. Marvel, but he’s distracted when he recognizes Ms. Marvel as Carol Danvers and Ronan takes the opportunity to ambush them.
Captain Marvel awakens strapped to a chair on the command deck of Ronan’s starship, with Ms. Marvel still unconscious in a cell nearby. The Supreme Intelligence appears and explains that he plans to use Ms. Marvel as the mother of a new Kree race that will combine Captain Marvel’s superior genetics with the latent psionic talents possessed by Terrans. To ensure her compliance, he will erase her soul with the Millennia Bloom, creating a blank slate.
Subjected to the Millennia Bloom, Carol Danvers dreams of her past. When the device finishes its work, Captain Marvel senses that Carol’s mind remains miraculously unaltered. She awakens, they defeat the unprepared Ronan together, and Ms. Marvel threatens the Supreme Intelligence with the same beating if he ever tries to co-opt her again.
Back on Earth, Ms. Marvel shares a chaste kiss with Captain Marvel and they agree to be friends.
