This is the first appearance and origin story for the original Ghost Rider, aka Johnny Blaze. Motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze tells the origin story in flashbacks, as he recounts how he summoned Satan to save the life of his adopted father, only to be double-crossed by the evil deity. Satan cursed Blaze so that every night he becomes a flaming skeleton riding a bike powered by hellfire. Blaze struggles to come to terms with this reality.
