Noticing a trend of strange deaths in the criminal community, investigative reporter Earl Crawford seeks to get to the bottom of this issue. Teaming up with the police department, Crawford is paired up with Lt. Jim Corrigan! When more deaths occur in front of him, Crawford sets out to warn the last surviving member of the Grandetti gang about the Spectre, but can Earl get there in time?

Returning to Atlantis from a JLA mission, Aquaman sees Black Manta attacking a farmer and stealing squid! Overcome by a strange additive to the water, Black Manta easily overpowers Aquaman. Seeking out an antidote to the Black Manta's poison, Aquaman sets out to stop Black Manta from destroying Atlantis' economy. Can Aquaman possibly overcome an ailment that has no known cause?
