Synopsis: The Doom Patrol are honored at an annual civic assocation dinner, but refuse to provide knowledge to the sponsoring newspaper about The Chief. The Chief, who has yet to reveal even his name to the Patrol, tells each of them a different story. He tells Rita that he is an alien from another world. Publisher Roy Jamison gave Rita a cigarette lighter at the dinner that takes the chief's photo, which is then substituted for one that records his voice.
Synopsis: Monsieur Duvoir, Senator Durham, and Dr. Savatini, upon the publication of the bogus story that The Chief is a space alien, see him as either a potential ally or competitor. He forms a bogus alliance with them and then sends the Doom Patrol after their forces.
