Synopsis:
Cloak finds Dagger at the hospital and returns the excess light she gave him. Restored, she safely leads Detective O'Rielly and Father Delgado through Cloak's darkness. It transports them to the Holy Ghost Church where the vigilantes reveal their origins.

Tandy Bowen lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Her father left for spiritual fulfillment in India, and her mother chose a modeling career over family life. Despite her stepfather's best attempts, Tandy felt angry and unloved. When her mother could not make an important dance recital, the teenager decided to runaway.

Stuttering Tyrone Johnson grew up in an impoverished South Boston neighborhood. Normal life ended when he could not get the words out to stop a police officer from wrongly shooting a friend for a crime neither teenager committed. Guilt-ridden, Ty ran away.

Tyrone spots Tandy in New York City. The two form a friendship during a meal but find themselves at the mercy of a street gang. The thugs force the teenagers to Ellis Island where they join other captive runaways as unwilling test subjects for pharmaceutical chemist Simon Marshall. After being injected with an experimental drug, Ty manages to escape with Tandy. Their developing powers save them from certain death as they swim across the Hudson River. Exhausted, Tandy's light daggers fend off the returning hoodlums.

The priest and the detective walk away saddened and with a newfound respect.
