Synopsis:
The Special Crimes Unit are called to a hostage situation at S.T.A.R. Labs, where Xlim and someone called Ruin are holding numerous youngsters - Ruin promises to kill them unless Superman arrives on the scene. Of course, Superman is soon there, and is able to rescue most of the children, with the exception of a few of them who are in the same lab as Xlim and Ruin. Suddenly, everyone bar Superman freezes and Mxyzptlk appears, dragging the Man of Steel into a Matrix-style world, warning him of a great crisis to come, a dark time which Superman will need great strength to survive. As part of this, he shows Lois Lane in Umec, in the midst of the fighting, having transferred to a more front-line unit. He returns Superman to the lab, and time is kick-started again - Superman is hit by a green beam, causing Ruin's device to overload. Ruin does not want to fail, so orders Xlim to kill the hero.
