This first issue of the series was simply called Marvel Comics. The title changed to Marvel Mystery Comics with issue #2.
Print run of the first printing is estimated at 70,000 copies, quite a conservative run for the time. When it was seen as a success, a second printing of 700,000 was produced. This second printing bears a cover date of November 1939, versus the first printing's cover date of October 1939.
