Dr. Druid transports the Avenger to 12th century Avalon (in another dimension from earth so that they can help with a threat there. Iron Man is left in the present day, frozen, because Dr Druid's magic doesn't work on iron. In Avalon, they met the Black Knight, in his ancestor's body. They tell him that his true body was destroyed in the 20th century. The Avengers and the Blakc Knight are to help Amergin, Dr Druid's ancestor, against the Fomor, a group of evil magical beings. Avalon is the gateway to earth. If the Fomor take Avalon, they will be able to reach the earth. The Avengers battle the Fomor. I gigantic Fomor named Balor is freed. Meanwhile, one of the Fomor, Bres, unbeknownst to the other Fomor, has managed to transport himself to 20th century earth, which he plans to conquer.
