Dream (The Sandman) is accidentally captured and imprisoned by an early-20th century occultist who was attempting to capture Death. Imprisoned for decades, Dream finally escapes and exacts a terrible revenge on his captor as only he can.
Dream then sets out to recover precious tools that were stolen from him, taking him to Hell itself. Finally, Dream spends a day with Death before he feels like returning to his old life.
