The short story, "Leaders and Lovers," from Legion of Super-Heroes (1980) #291 was originally illustrated by Howard Bender and Rodin Rodriguez with lettering by Janice Chiang. It was redrawn by Keith Giffen and Larry Mahlstedt, and relettered by John Costanza for the 1989 The Great Darkness Saga TPB. Carl Gafford colors both editions of the story. The reillustrated version is collected in this volume.
