The Vision shows Union Jack the events of January, 1945, between the Invaders and the Nazi super forces in the small town of Vliet, the Netherlands. A quick spreading airborne virus unleashed by Arnim Zola mutated several townsfolk and soldiers upon contact, infecting them with a mindless destructive rage as well. The Nazi plan was to unleash the virus behind enemy lines to cripple the Allied forces.
It is discovered that the village of 100 people have all been infected, some mutating more slowly, some with no affects yet visible. Zola's assistant states there is no cure for the virus.
The yet-unmutated villagers beg the heroes to mercifully kill them. Out of options, the Invaders burn the village, killing all the townsfolk.
But someone wants the Invaders to return to the site of one of their greatest tragedies. Upon arriving, they are met again by the superhuman Nazi force.
It is during this flashback in time the original Human Torch fried Arnim Zola's human body, but his consciousness was downloaded into his more-familiar android body.
This is a virgin cover variant of the regular Alex Ross cover limited to 699 copies.
