With Travis' help, Buddy feels that he is back in control of his powers, and may use them without killing the animals he connects with. He decides to have a public demonstration of his powers at the San Diego zoo. In the midst of this, All the Animals strikes at him from a distance, using the totem figure he made back in #33. Buddy's powers go terribly haywire and he emits a deadly pulse of energy that kills all the animals in the San Diego Zoo.
