Synopsis: The team tracks down the Kree man, Noh Varr, aka Marvel Boy, now called "The Protector", to get him to build them a time machine. He builds the machine and the Avengers see the future. They witness the timestream "break". As they are deciding how to handle the situation, they are attacked by Wonder Man (Simon Williams). He vanishes, and they are faced instead with a deadly quintet of villains.
Notes: During the alternate reality display, characters from alternate universes appear: MC2, Days of the Future Past, 2020, 2099, Guardians of the Galaxy (Earth 691), Earth X, Age of Apocalypse as well as Cable, Death's Head II, Stryfe, Killraven & Maestro are briefly shown. The Next Avengers & Immortus appear in the same display, flashing back to the previous issue.
The Apocalypse & Horsemen (Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man) that appear are versions from an alternate future.
