Courtney's father has returned from being a deadbeat for several years. After she returns from a JSA battle with the British Bat, the two talk about where he's been. He feeds her some story about how his brother is in trouble in Egypt and he needs the other half of the locket set so that he can bail him out. He promises to return with something nicer but disappears. Barbara explains to her that he doesn't have a brother.

Meanwhile, Pat passes on his legacy to Mike, promising to teach him about being a robot mechanic so that one day he can step into his future. When they see Courtney looking upset outside, Pat decides to give her her birthday present early, a new car. Combined with the events of the day, Courtney finally accepts Pat as her true father, despite lack of blood relations.
