Superman (1996) #20

This is a significant issue in the life of the Parasite, Rudy Jones. Some comic book scholars contend this is the first appearance of a new character, "Doc Parasite", and there's reason to understand why. When the separate entities of the Parasite and Dr. Torval Freeman permanently merge in this issue, the changes to Parasite's character are significant. Because Freeman is an inherently good person, Parasite, a villain, is thrust into conflict and moral ambiguity. But, because Freeman is hyper-intelligent, the Parasite permanently becomes a much bigger threat than when he was merely a janitor-gone-bad.
