In Los Angeles Morbius attacks Judi, a lonely woman walking home after a party. He feasts on her blood yet feels remorse for his actions. His hunger has driven him to act, once again, as a savage. He leaves her, hoping she survived the ordeal.
Shortly after he crawls into a building to rest, purposefully avoiding any human interaction for fear of another attack occurring. He flashes back to his recent encounter with the X-Men. Cyclops had captured him and brought him back to Profeesor X. As they were studying him and trying to figure out how to help him he awoke and broke free. Although Cyclops had wanted to go after him, Professor X said they should instead focus on finding out what has happened to the other X-Men who had recently disappeared.
Morbius is startled awake when Reverand Daemond and Rabbi Krause enter the building. Initially Morbius became aggressive but calmed as he felt the calming influence of these "men of God". Krause is a biochemist and with Morbius' approval begins conducting tests. The tests fail to find a cure just as Morbius' blood lust peaks. He attacks Krause and Daemond reveals his true nature as an occultist and casts a spell on Morbius. He commands Morbius to feast on Krause which he does, killing him.
Morbius turns to attack Daemond in revenge for forcing him to kill but Daemond's spell goes deep. Daemond revealed himself because he needed to control Morbius as a pawn in a mystic struggle he was engaged in. Daemond sends Morbius on a mission to kill someone of interest to him. Morbius flies away not knowing who his victim is. He is directed by the spell to a chauffeured car being driven down a dark road. He throws the chauffeur in the ditch and rips open the back door finding a young girl no older than 7 in the car. The issue ends with Morbius sick that his victim is to be a child.
Emil Nikos, Martine Bancroft, Angel, Human Torch, Iceman, Marvel Girl, and Spider-Man appear only in flashback.
