Synopsis: Stefan Drucker, a medieval scholar at the Universit of Frankfurt, gives up his studies to a life in the country. There, he finds a book that tells him about a monster on Death Island. He rescues a woman who claims to be from the island. Eventually, he persues the gold on the island, even though his wife says it will kill her. He puts out the monster's eye and brings back the gold, only to return to his wife, now resembling a gorgon, with one eye missing.

Synopsis: An army tries to destroy someone using mutant powers against them. Eve tries to stop them, then thinks that the mutant is too dangerous to live, until she realizes that the mutant is only a little girl. Eve uses this story to establish that she does indeed have a heart, in spite of her usual nastiness.
Synopsis: Lords Elias and Delia come to Bedlam and take the strongest inmate, Ox, to be their servant. Duncan, the coachman, leaves him in the stable. eventually, Elias wakes him and forces him to dig for the treasure, Delia having been bequested a map to it by her late husband. After digging, Ox finds stairs, and Elias knocks him down them, then treis to kill Delia to take the treasure for himself. The constable finds Elias's corpse and Delia mad. A year later, Ox returns to Bedlam in the clothes of a nobleman to set Delia free.
